BORROWDALE

Rock Type Granite
Access Borrowdale runs between Keswick in the north and Seathwaite in the south, and thus there is a road running the whole length. The village of Grange is in the middle and has a regular bus service and a good campsite. The buses run through Grange, Rosthwaite, and Seatoller. There are numerous car parks, and lay-bys down the whole of the valley.
Comments As you drive down Borrowdale from Keswick, the crags come into view one by one. Towards the end of the Derwent water crags appear every where, giving an amazing view.

The crags are generally large, and the whole valley has a totally different feel to say Langdale.

Crags Goats Crag, Watendlath, D - E4. Out of the way nr. Watendlath. Not really worth visiting.

Shepherd's Crag, D - E6. It may be popular but this is not only because it is close to the road, it is also close to an ice cream shop.

Black Crag, S - E4. Large buttress, good view, quiet atmosphere.

Woden's Face, VD - E2. Small buttress on the way to the Bowderstone.

Bowderstone Crag, VD - E9. Excellent buttress above the Bowderstone.
