BOWDERSTONE CRAG

Rock Type Granite
Access From Keswick the car park is past Grange on the left, and is sign posted as the Bowderstone. The car park is a national trust car park. From the car park fallow the path towards the Bowderstone. Then simply strike up the hill side to the crag.
Comments The buttress is composed of some of the cleanest rock around. It is also exceedingly solid.

A number of really hard test pieces have gone up in the last few years. Such as Dave Birkett's "Dawes Rides A Shovel Head" at E9. There are also easier ones for the human climbers.

If you get bored, there is always the excellent bowderstone below. Here you can test your self to your limit.

Best Routes Woden's Needle, 30m, VD.

Hell's Wall, 30m, E6 6b. A classic.

The Bulger, 36m, E4 6b.

Balder's Crack, 36m, 36m, S.
