Froggatt edge lies parallel to the B6054 road.
The most popular way of approaching the edge is from the northern end.
There is limited parking in a few lay bys, about 450m south of the Grouse
Inn. There is a National Trust car park further north if the lay bys are
full. The path starts at the White Gate, and runs the whole length of the
edge. You know when you have reached the edge, when the ground to the
right of the path looks like the top of the edge. This happens just after
the path bends left, and there is a boulder of about 2.5m high on the
left.
The other approach is from a footpath starting at the Chequers Inn. The parking here is even more limited. The walk in is shorter, but steeper. |

The edge consists of very good quality
gritstone, there is very little in the way of loose rock. The edge is very
popular, and as such some lines have become very polished, ie. Diamond
Crack HS 4b.
There are routes of all styles, and grades, from VD chimneys, to E9 walls. |

Renegade Master, short, E9 7a. Up a large boulder north of the main edge. Strapiombante, 8m, E1 5b. Well protected, slightly polished at the bottom. Strapadictomy, 9m, E5 6a. A classic of its time, still very good. Valkyrie, 20m, HVS 5a. 2 pitches. Long John's Slab, 14m, E3 5c. Excellent slab, with nasty landing, and bugger all protection. Trapeze Direct, 12m, VS 4c. Pictured at bottom. Brown's Eliminate, 14m, E2 5b. The crux comes a worrying distance above the last runner. |

| Local Facilities | The Grouse Inn to the north, the Chequers Inn to the south. Stocking Farm Campsite in Calver is the best campsite in the area. The edge is visible from the campsite. The Ayre Arms in Calver is within walking distance from the campsite, and is very friendly. They even let Al dry his shoes and socks by the fire. |
