Eridge Green Rocks

Description
The rocks are on the A26, 4km south west of Tunbridge Wells. The turning to the rocks is quite small. Coming from Tunbridge Wells, the turning is on the right just past the Eridge church, next to a bus stop. The turning looks like a drive but it is a small lane. A new car park has just been made. Access at these rocks has always been a slight headache. Climbing is now allowed, but it is restricted to certain buttresses. There is a notice at the start of the rocks which tells you where the restrictions are. The rock here is possibly the grippiest in the region due to the lack of use. But this also causes the problem of fragile rock. There are no bolts and often the trees can be unreliable, so a long static rope would be useful for setting up top ropes to let the krab hang free over the edge. Abseiling and lowering are totally banned. If the path opposite the carpark is followed away from the rocks two small buttress are reached. These can be seen from the A26 during autumn. They have a couple of small problems that may be of interest to some.
