Approach    The crag is reached by turning off the A28 (Fort William to Inverness road) at the mini roundabout 1/2 mile south from town centre. Continue down the glen past the youth hostel, to Achriabhach and the lower falls. The crag can be accesses by parking in some over sized lay bys past the bridge. It is obvious as it is the only crag around, and one of the upper crags resembles a skull.

Cavalry crack buttress is the largest of the lower tier of buttresses. It is identified by a large, steep wall facing left with a pine at 2/3 height. Heatwave starts just left of the bottom of the buttress, at a ramp.

Description

1. 26m. Follow the ramp up left to its end. Protectionless and quite tricky as the groove seems to be pushing you out.
2. 12m. Traverse along the ledge on your right to reach some trees. Pitches 1&2 are usually done as one pitch.
3. 24m. Scramble up the vegetated gully, then step onto the wall on the left. Head up past a small sapling. Continue to a brilliant position on a large terrace.
4. 29m. Simply climb the slabs in the middle. After approximately 10m follow a small arete, then continue to the top.
